Alexandra Sladky is a Lecturer in English at Georgia State University where she also directs the First Year Writing Program. Alex earned her PhD in Rhetoric and Composition from Georgia State University in August 2023. She holds an MA in Latin and Classical Humanities from the University of Massachusetts, Boston, and a BA in Latin from Mount Holyoke College. She has helped to redesign the First Year Writing curriculum including a College to Career Curriculum and Why I Write/Why They Write for English 1101. She leads training sessions for GTAs and supports GTAs teaching across different modalities. Alex teaches courses in composition, the history of rhetoric, exposition, and senior seminars. Before pursuing her PhD, Alex taught high school Latin in Massachusetts.

Alex’s research focuses on women’s recent translations of the classics as rhetorical acts. Her other interests include the history of rhetorical and Latin pedagogy, classical rhetoric, and the rhetoric of translation, particularly where women’s translations of the classics are concerned.
